ABOUT

Rogers City Senior & Community Center

In April 1998, approximately 25 seniors from the area met at the Servicemen*s Club and formed a committee to organize the meetings and activities. That committee became the nucleus of the Board of Directors for what is now known as the "Rogers City Area Seniors, Inc". which was  incorporated as a nonprofit charitable organization in May 1998.

As the group grew, it met in various areas to accommodate the membership. Meanwhile, the building committee was investigating buildings in the area which were available for purchase.

The building chosen, was the former Northern Electric Building at 131 Superior Street.

With the completion of the last renovation project, the center has the largest non-sectarian meeting facility in the area, capable of seating and feeding a full-course meal  to 128 people.

An active organization of seniors provides an outlet and opportunity to participate in community affairs and promote the general welfare of the area.

The business community benefits with the knowledge that retiring seniors would choose the Rogers City area as a home, knowing there is a facility where they will be readily accepted into the community. Visitors are drawn to our community because of the functions available at the center.
